SMALL GROUPS AT LOCF

Community is essential to Christian Life

The New Testament demonstrates the importance of home groups as a vital aspect of the local church (Acts 2:46, Acts 20:20, Rom 16:4, 10-11, 14-15), and participation should be standard for all believers. We have been invited to participate in God's story of redemption by influencing the world through our relationship-based community (Mathew 28: 16-20). How are we to do this? It is our “love for one another'' that is the distinguishing characteristic of the Christian life.

Only through community can we have relationships deep enough to actually practice the “one another” imperatives. Healthy Christian community attracts people to Jesus because it demonstrates what we were made for (Jn. 13:34,35; 17:20-23) and strengthens us to be good representatives of Jesus wherever we go (Heb. 10:24).
